hi gang...got home ok, though with temporarily lost luggage in the good ol' USA. But everything's more or less back to normal now, though I'm not yet terribly motivated for work...but I go in anyway... Photos are back, my hand-held camera shots of totality are pretty fair, but certainly not sky&tel material! I'm sure our more serious photographers did much better; Pierre certainly did! For me, I'm happy I devoted 3:15 to direct observing; certainly my most visually pleasing eclipse ever...as David says, they just keep getting better (and maybe we get more skilled at taking it all in, as well.) Got some pretty shots of Vic Falls, and *some* of my wildlife shots are ok. Others are disappointing, at least in comparison to my memories. Of course, my binos were better than my telephoto lens... Will try to hook up the appropriate digital technology to post a few shots. But I dn't have a scanner at home, and I'm still digging out from under a mountain of real work at my job, so it may be a few days. This was my best trip ever...can't wait for the next...Costa Rica this December or Africruise next?? Can I possibly afford both? Decisions, decisions... Still basking in the glow.... Jim IP: Logged |

Jim I'm really looking forward to your photos, though it sounds like it's a project just to place them on the scanner! I hope that shirt I tried on fit your sweetie. If it didn't I'll send you my address, and take it off your hands! It was good to talk with you, especially during the eclipse prep and in the airport at JFK. Renee IP: Logged |

I know that scanning photos isn't a very big deal...it's just a matter of finding some free time at (or after) work to do it. I'm still enjoying recent memories of our expedition, and also scheming about the next one...hope we will cross paths again... Jim IP: Logged |
