Random Bits of WRen

Fade back two years. Music. I couldn't attach the belt to my ancient turntable. Steven O tried and failed. "Do you have the manual?" He was impressed when I quickly located the user manual for this old, old turntable. In some ways I am entirely organized.

In other ways, not.

My purse was stolen from the laundromat today. The security logs show the culprit. It was the "kindly old fellow" who helped me fold 9 yards of fabric. He "casually" placed a crumpled black garbage bag fragment over my purse, which I had set on the folding table. Then he removed the black bag, but surreptitiously placed it over my purse again. A few frames later, the black garbage bag was peeking out beneath his folded cothes. He started folding his clothes faster. Just as I began to look for my purse, he swooped up his clothes and left. We might catch him! The security tape has a clear shot of his face.

The other notable video the film captured was how careless I am with my purse /-:

In other news, every time I enter my 5 digit zip code at the gas pump, I am annoyed that I must press "enter". It asks for a 5-digit zip code, and IMO we would all be better served if it accepted 5 digits, and went off hunting for approval without asking us to press enter.

Another pet peeve is how horridly public every ATM access point seems to be. There is simply no way of protecting one's PIN entry without hunkering down and hiding the keypad with body and hands. Why not physically screen the keypad from prying eyes?!!

In other developments, Tom P no longer dances with me at Friday Night Waltz, probably due to my poor attitude at the World Pipe Smoking Competition in Russia. It's a shame, but OTOH he foisted cigarettes upon me in Russia, and I got hooked, and had quite a battle with the nicotine habit. Grr. Mutual grr.

And finally. Members of the previous generation are battling over a photo album. Members of this generation are annoyed, appalled, and exasperated. People are more important than possessions. This stupid sentimental photo album is NOT WORTH the disruption between relatives. It only takes one person to give up the battle.

What would Dr. Laura say.
